Even though LCD TV's have improved in quality thanks to some very cleaver technology, the price for these televisions has dropped dramatically due to huge competition and price wars. This means no matter what price you pay for say a 32 inch LCD TV you still get a TV which is ten times better than your old conventional Television which you could never get to sit that close to the wall.

There are differences in the design and specifications of each LCD TV but too many homeowners, the in depth features won't be used anyway. Many people just want a television where they can watch their favourite films and soaps.

The price of a LCD TV does depend on the screen size. The most popular within the UK for example are 32 Inch LCD TV's with many people online using the keyword 32 lcd, but the more gadget and technology orientated users are also opting for 42 inches or even 50 inches for those who have the room, or wall space.

If you are looking to buy a LCD TV from a high street shop, make sure you check out the picture quality properly. Sometimes the brightest TV can look the best but this is not always the case. There is a slang phrase called "torch mode" which basically means the TV is set to the settings which make it look like the brightest and best TV but not always the actual best in the range on sale.

There are two types of High Definition Televisions, those referred to as HD Ready and there are also Full HD TV's to. HD Ready has become a household phase and mentioned on TV on more or less all television adverts. This has led people to believe they are top of the range, when in fact the resolutions are not actually Full High Definition. To get the full resolution of a High Definition TV you need Full HD TV also knows as a 1080p TV.

Connectivity for these 32 LCD televisions is usually based around HDMI ports with three sockets being very good and two being average. You also usually get one or two SCART sockets so enough to be able to connect your Blu-Ray, Camcorder and Games Console to your TV. All in all, the technology advancement in televisions has become very impressive over the last few years and years to come to.

Before you go out and buy the new latest HD television you need to be familiar with the latest cabling HDMI. As the HDTV market continues to develop with the run-up to the digital change over many of us are in need of being educated in this latest technology. When you first decide to purchase the latest HDTV check out first that it carries the HD Logo to confirm HDTV compatibility, the other term you will surely run into is: HDMI.

In order to decide on the choices you have available you need the right information to make the correct decisions. So what is HDMI

High Definition Multimedia Interface, this is a 19 pin medium-sized connector which now replaces the old style SCART socket. With HDMI digital signals are used to carry both sound and pictures simultaneously.

Of course not all programmes are presently broadcast in HD to your HDTV receiver.HDMI cables have backwards compatibility so can support standard definitions formats also. Analogue component video may still be require as some standard definition TV channels and DVDs may not perform well went sent digitally to a high resolution screen.

With more HD channel now coming on-line and HD DVDs then this will not be a problem for long. Most HDTVs now have one,two or more HDMI connections,if you require further then switch-boxes are available. This makes your AV set up easier than in the past.

The HDMI spec is currently at version 1.3. Therefore to take advantage your TV must be fully compatible with the latest version. With the added features and benefits of HDMI v1.3 including increased bandwidth you will require good quality cables.

It makes no sense to compromise on your cabling if you have purchased an expensive HDTV,amp or player as signals can still be influenced by variations in the quality of the cable or affected by interference. You also need to consider the length of your cabling, over a long distance you will definitely need good quality cable.

Consumers of audio/video equipment are not always considering the component connections they will need to compliment that HDTV or PC to achieve the best performance.

Roy Miller at HDMI Video Cables http://www.most-favorite.com/hdmivideocables will provide you with the correct information you need on your HDMI cabling and connections.

There are certainly many reasons why so many people have subscribed to satellite TV. One of those reasons is the fact that subscribers are often able to take advantage of exclusive programming that is simply not available anywhere else. In addition, subscribers are often able to see programming before it is available anywhere else.

That is certainly the case with Friday Night Lights. The leading satellite TV provider recently aired the third season premier of the hit television program. This is certainly good news for subscribers. Those who do not subscribe will unfortunately have to wait until February to see the much awaited premier.

The show, which is based in Austin, Texas, has resonated with football fans who like to tune in to the show to see the evolving storyline continue with each new episode. The television show was named as one of the top 10 shows by a variety of different publications, including Entertainment Weekly, Time magazine and the New York Times. Friday Night Lights has also met with critical acclaim for the last two years running by the American Film Institute as Television Program of the Year. In addition, the show received the George Foster Peabody Award in 2006. In 2007, the show earned a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series.

When the show first premiered it served to expand upon the best selling book and hit film "Friday Night Lights." The storyline centers around the community life in the town of Dillon, Texas; where the small town is brought together by the high school football team and yet threatened to be torn asunder by continuous drama. Kyle Chandler of Grey's Anatomy portrays Coach Eric Taylor. The original book which inspired the series was based on the high school football team of Permian High School, in Odessa, Texas, which made a run for the state championship in 1988.

The third season will include 13 brand new episodes. What is even more exciting is the fact that it has been hinted at that the episodes that will be shown on Satellite TV may be somewhat different from the episodes that will be shown at later dates on NBC. This is because satellite TV is not limited to the same content restrictions that broadcast TV has been forced to adhere to. As a result, the episodes of Friday Night Lights that will air on satellite TV very well may have dialogue and content that is somewhat racier. In addition, those episodes could run somewhat longer than the episodes that will appear on NBC. It is presumed that in order to meet their broadcast restrictions, NBC will be forced to edit the episodes as well as whittle them down before they begin showing the premier of the third season in February. This is something that satellite TV will not have to worry about; thus the early premier dates on the satellite television network. The third season of Friday Night Lights began shooting in August in Austin.

You can't go wrong with Direct TV, the nation's leading provider of satellite television services. For the best in sports programming, movies, and high-definition entertainment, check out the latest Direct TV deals.

The concept of 'home theater' means many things to many people. Although some people are content with a 27-inch color TV and a pair of stereo speakers, most recognize a front projection system as the most thrilling and authentic home theater experience. Unfortunately, it is also the most demanding, which is why only about 5% of consumers actually go all the way and install a mini-movie theater in their home.

Thats a shame since a dedicated front projection home theater has so many advantages and benefits that its really worth considering.

For example, with front projection, you get all the benefits of going to the movies (big screen, immersive, theatrical experience), with none of the drawbacks of a night at the multiplex (cellphones, talking, rowdy teens, seat kicking, sticky floors, screen ads, bad sound, out-of-focus prints, crowded seats, no seats, stale popcorn, et. al). Perhaps the single most important benefit: a pause button!

To do a front projection home theater right, you must typically dedicate a single room of your home. This room should be a minimum of 18 x 15 and a minimum height of 7'. You should be able to control ambient light (thick drapes or a windowless basement). Acoustics must be controlled, either with thicker wall construction, room dampening materials, or both.

A dedicated front projection home theater room will cost anywhere from $10,000 to $250,000. You can pay less, but you will generally make compromises in terms of sound quality or picture quality.

These budgets sound high but not if you go out to the movies twice a month. For example, its easy for two people to spend $50 for a date at the movies with a visit to the concession stand. Add a nice dinner and a baby sitter and you're probably paying $200! If you go out twice per month you can lease a new car...or treat yourself (and your entire family) a terrific entertainment experience you can enjoy any day of the week.

Home theater front projectors have historically meant expensive, but prices on these systems - DLP or LCD -- have fallen dramatically in the last four years. What used to cost $12,000 to $20,000 in 2002 now looks better and costs less than $5,000! Excellent quality amps and audio receivers have also come way down in price.

Other system costs have not fallen proportionately. Good-quality surround sound speakers, sturdy furniture, room acoustic treatments, and other "accessories" are priced accurately relative to their quality. In other words, you really do get what you pay for.

A budget of $10,000 to $20,000 (less than $500/month on a home equity line of credit) is quite reasonable and will likely result in a terrific experience for you and your entire family.

To install front projection, it is always a good idea to start the process by consulting a professional. Unless you're planning to keep your projector stored in a closet for special occasions, an experienced professional can make a mediocre system a truly great experience.

Dealer locators are the most obvious way consumers find installers, but these sites list only installers or resellers of a single brand. Another site that assures more objectivity is http://www.allhometheaters.com, a relatively new database that lists virtually ALL home theater and home automation specialists in a local community. The site lets you search by project category AND by zip code proximity of your home. All listings include phone numbers and city/state. Some enhanced listings feature valuable discount coupons, web links, project samples showing completed work.

Professional installation of a front projector (ceiling mount with all cables neatly installed) can cost less than $1,000. However, most professionals do more than hide wires. Professional installation can also include professional integration. It is a wise investment.
System integration is an important, albeit, expensive service where all your systems are unified into a single control system. Sometimes it's as simple as programming eight devices into a single multi-function remote control. Better systems have dedicated hardware that distributes high-quality audio (ad even video) to multiple rooms around your home.

A home automation professional can also add other time-savings equipment such as intercoms, home surveillance/security, automated lighting controls, etc. A good installer knows how to install all these systems and make them work reliably and within your budget.

With prices coming down, building a high-quality home theater in your home is not the extravagance it once was and certainly not just of movie moguls. For less than the price of a new car lease you can obtain a top-quality home theater system, professionally designed and installed, to enrich and enliven your evenings for years to come.

PC satellite TV is the new kid on the block in digital satellite TV technology. So just what is so fascinating about being able to watch satellite TV on PC? Even as we discuss, there is an exodus of current viewers who are watching satellite TV channels on television sets to satellite TV on PC. Let us discover more about this PC satellite TV technology and see if the old satellite TV system is obsolete or still relevant.

PC satellite TV runs on a proprietary internet technology. In order to tap into the system and watch satellite TV on PC, you need to install and run a software application. Now, this software is available online and can be downloaded easily from the internet. Once installed and running, you will be able to locate a list of national and international satellite TV channels from Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, India, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, New Zealand, Netherlands and Norway that you can watch. Of course, these channels include cartoons, movies, music videos and more. This is very similar to satellite TV services run by the service providers which give you hundreds of satellite TV channels.

In terms of program variety, watching satellite TV on PC has an advantage over traditional satellite dish TV systems. The difference here is PC satellite TV uses internet connection, whether dial-up or broadband to receive their feeds. Traditional satellite TV system relies on satellite dish setup and can vary depending on your locality, the range your satellite dish covers and whether it is multi or single satellite dish unit. With PC satellite TV, you get to watch more programs.

Satellite TV system run on a dish system comprising satellite dish, receiver, decoder, etc. Setting up can be a hassle and needs more than one pair of hands. When it is misaligned due to weather or physical knocks, someone has to climb up the roof to adjust it to optimal position to restore the reception. PC satellite TV users vouch for the ease of installation.

What about pricing? Satellite TV services are normally bundled in different TV packages and can vary in the specific program category and prices. But generally, payment is on a monthly basis with occasional promotional discounts for yearly subscriptions. DIY satellite dish TV systems are free but you have to be tech-savvy and familiar with setting up your own satellite TV equipment. A decent satellite dish system can set you back by hundreds to thousands of dollars. PC satellite TV software would cost you roughly $60 100.

Satellite TV offers great mobility to people on the move. No matter where you are, traveling on a yacht or car, you can get to enjoy satellite TV programs anytime you want. You are not restricted by the time zone since TV shows and movies are screened round the clock. This is where the satellite dish has an edge over PC satellite TV. While it is true that you can still get internet access while on the move, the exorbitant cost of connection can fry your pocket.

As you can see, each TV system has its merits. Discover the scoop about PC satellite TV at my blog and find out how you can watch satellite TV on PC today.

Are you looking for an original but practical gift for the holiday season? A Mac compatible digital voice recorder may be the best buy. Two of the most popular lines of Mac compatible voice recorders are Olympus and Philips. These devices are digital audio recorders that records sound via flash memory and can convert it to WAV files or MP3 files for PC computer use. (You can use a USB port for fast communication) In years passed, the only operating system that supported this type of compression and transfer was Windows. Therefore, news of the Macintosh compatible digital voice recorder and Mac-compatible software like the high compression DSS Player (Digital Speech Standard) were exciting to Apple fans.

What are some of the best features about these Mac compatible digital voice recorders? You can adjust the microphone to record meetings involving multiple voices, or your own voice or even softer sounds. With some models you get an FM tuner which you can then use to record full songs on the radio. You will enjoy hearing the 3-D stereo sound made possible by WOW XTTM audio technology. The large LCD screen also displays the artist and gives you helpful information.

You never have to worry about running out of tape or going over your memory capacity. The best Macintosh compatible digital voice recorders can record 500 hours or more of high quality audio with stereo sound. You can choose a digital video recorder with a stereo microphone that comes designed as a tie clip (and provides perfect positioning for recording) or you can use the high-tech voice activation feature. This feature lets the user automatically start recording as soon as a voice is detected.

Not only can you record and transfer audio files, but on some models equipped with USB Mass Storage you can also store important documents and photographs. You have the power to manipulate your audio recordings with the DSS Player and either slow them down (ideal for transcribing) or speed them up for special audio effects. There are also built in features like a Voice Filter function and Noise Cancel function to protect your audio content from air conditioner noise and other distracting noises that distract from the words being spoken. On your digital voice recorder Macintosh compatible system you can lock important files and protect them from accidentally being erased or erase as many files as you choose.

A Mac compatible digital voice recorder will make a great gift for a busy professional who wants to dictate important notes throughout the day or even a child who wants to record his own songs off the radio. With all the extra features, and now a Mac-friendly operational system, expect these Mac compatible digital voice recorders to be a top seller this holiday season.

Prison Break: Season 4 (DVD) newly tagged "tv"

Prison Break: Season 4
Prison Break: Season 4 (DVD)

This article covers the NTSC (National Television System Committee) only. Which is the television standard in North America.

One walk around the big box department stores and you will find a number of TV's on display for sale. Known as the "Wall of Eyes" (WOE), it's a display meant to catch your eyes so that you can make a purchase as quickly as possible. Usually, they will have on the description near the TV that will show SDTV or EDTV or HDTV's. This is an explanation of the three types of displays.

Here are the types of display.

SDTV - Standard Definition TV - Resolution is 480i

EDTV - Enhanced Definition TV - Resolution is 480i and 480p. Supports wide-screen.

HDTV - High Definition TV - Resolution is 480i, 480p and can vary amongst the different High Definition sources. Supports wide-screen.

The resolution for HDTV varies depending on the manufacturer and the model number so you have to pay close attention to what is advertised and to what is written on the box or manual of the TV. You should always see if you can find the manual of the TV on the Internet or in person at the store and not rely on what the sales person says or what the store display says.

Here are the different resolutions of TV's: 480i , 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p.

What on earth do the numbers and letters mean? It's fairly simple, but a little explanation is needed.

Let's Cover the number portion first. The numbers are the lines of resolution that the television can display.

In 1941 a standard was developed for broadcasting video signals to televisions, this standard was called NTSC. The NTSC standard called for 525 lines of resolution, only of which 486 lines are actually visible. This up until the advent of HDTV was just known as a TV signal or standard TV. In the late 1980's a standard was developed for HDTV that called for 720 lines of resolution to show a much sharper image. Right around the same time another standard was being developed that had 1080 lines of resolution. Both types of resolution 720 and 1080 are considered high definition and both are gaining popularity in the United States with 30 percent of American households having one at this writing.

Quick Reference: 480 = 486 lines of resolution, developed in the 1940's, 720 = 720 lines of resolution, developed in the 1980's, 1080 = 1080 lines of resolution, developed in the 1980's. The letters behind the numbers are how the image is displayed, either interlaced (i) or progressive (p).

In the 1930's RCA engineer Randall C. Ballard invented interlace broadcasting. This allowed a TV signal to be broadcast without taking any more bandwidth. It does this by alternating every other line in a TV signal so that only half of the screen is shown at any one moment in time, the rest of the picture is sent immediately afterwards. The principal works like this: The signal is broken in two parts, odd lines and even lines, these are known as fields. Each of the fields are broadcast separately. The picture then only consumes half of the bandwidth. Each field is sent so rapidly, that the human eye will perceive the image as one picture, not 2 fields. The phosphors in the TV will remain lit long enough for the alternate field to be filled in. This can be easily seen when you have a VCR on pause, the image will jitter, this is the interlace working.

In the 1980's the popularity of progressive scan started to take hold. Though developed early on in TV's, progressive scan required too much bandwidth to be broadcast at the time. Progressive scan sends all lines of resolution to the TV at once, allowing for a sharper image. Progressive scan also purports wide-screen.

Progressive scan certainly has an edge on Interlaced scan when it comes to showing a sharper image, however you must remember that at this time, broadcasters still transmit using Interlaced scan. Using a EDTV or HDTV to receive an Analog broadcast will not be any different than using a SDTV to pick up the same analog broadcast. The difference then lies in which type of signal you want to receive.

Analog Broadcast (broadcast and standard cable) = 480i = Compatable with SDTV, EDTV, HDTV

VHS = 480i = SDTV, EDTV, HDTV

DVD using composite = 480i = SDTV, EDTV, HDTV

Blu-Ray and HD-DVD composite = 480i = SDTV, EDTV, HDTV

DVD using S-Video = 480p = EDTV, HDTV

DVD using component or HDMI = 480p = EDTV, HDTV

Blu-Ray and HD-DVD component or HDMI = 720p, 1080i, 1080p = HDTV

HD Cable or satellite = 720p, 1080i, 1080p = HDTV

I hope that this article sheds a bit of light on the different standards of TV and their acronyms. I suggest getting the TV that meets your needs and not the needs of the sales person trying to sell you the TV. If you only plan on watching standard analog TV broadcast through cable or through the air waves for the life of the TV, the get a SDTV, just be sure that you can either add a converter so that you can watch digital TV in the future. If you want to watch standard DVD movies in their highest resolution, then a EDTV will meet your needs, but again make sure that you can add a converter to watch digital TV in the future. If you want to watch the best that TV technology has to offer now, then get a HDTV, but don't be too surprised by the price tag.

Customer Review: Great TV for the right price
The picture is a little less bright than some other LCDs out there, but I just bought it for $440 when it's all over the place for $500 + (not even inc tax or shipping). So I am very happy with the purchase. The TV also allows you to save each channel by station ID or by signal #. Interesting... Also, it's light enough to move around from room to room or hang on a full motion swivel arm. Good buy as long as you're not a super techno geek who expects absolute perfection.

Keeping track of mileage is for everyone not just drivers; it's for business professionals, health care professionals and all tax payers with business mileage.

When you know where your mileage log is you will tend to keep better track of gas usage so that you can turn it in to your employer or to your accountant when the time comes. Success in keeping track of this information is that you right where it is and remembering to write down information every time you stop for gas.

Finding products to help you keep them where you can see them may be what you are looking for. There are several products that can be clipped to your sun visor or dashboard. A home theater is all about the big picture and is generally set up in a "5.1" format. This number simply refers to the number of speakers your system is capable of handling. Most people usually set up a home theater room in their home that is dedicated to providing the highest quality movie viewing, TV watching and music listening experiences for the family. Traditionally, good home theater rooms feature more than one row of theater style seating, a 100-inch or larger viewing area and a surround sound system.

Another definition of a home theater is a dedicated space for watching movies that is comprised of a large screen television (LCD or PLASMA flat panels or front screen projection), combined with a multi-channel, surround-sound system, and is the combination of two types of media, video and audio.

The Home Theater Speakers

Home theater speakers should be placed at the listener's height which can be done by using speaker stands and don't hide them on a bookshelf. Speaker brackets and shelves should be fastened to a least one stud or joist. In-wall or ceiling speakers require cutting a hole in the wall or ceiling between the framing members and are secured with an integral mounting bracket. And speakers hung on the wall with wires going everywhere is very unattractive.

The Front Projector

Front-projection systems are most appropriate for rooms that are dedicated theater setups and can be darkened even during the day. Front projection offers the most flawless picture. The projection unit is mounted on the ceiling across the room from the screen which makes the picture crystal clear.

Home Theater Floors

Floors can be soundproofed in many different ways depending on what the finished floor is going to be installed. If you are planning on having carpet and pad for the finished floor in your theater, then a soundproof floor underlay would be in order. Floors should not be bare, so you might have to pick out carpeting.

A home theater is a fun, relaxing place for families to spend time together as well as to entertain. The decor of the room should be about comfort and subtly allowing you to enjoy favorite movies or programs in the welcoming retreat of your own home. It's generally considered to be a designated room for viewing movies, although the room can be used for gaming, watching sports, or TV as well.

Buying a refurbished HDTV has long been a secret of the rich. It has finally reached the masses and is becoming very popular. In this article, we will discuss exactly what to look for in an HDTV. Since a refurbished HDTV is like a new HDTV, you need to look for the same features. And you need to make sure it meets your expectations and fits into your room and your lifestyle.

Before you make your purchase, ask yourself some questions: What's the measurement of the space allocated for the TV? Will you sit right in front of the TV or to the side, etc.? Will it be used mostly to play games, watch general TV or watch movies? Are you movie lovers, where you need to see flawless movement? Are you a sports lover and you need to see the action? Do you mostly watch television in daylight and in a bright room? Or rather, is your TV time mostly in the evening and at night? Do you move frequently and need to move the big tube often? And, finally, how much TV can you afford?

Now let's try to answer your questions. Oh, the lcd vs. plasma debate... well, basically it all boils down to suit you and your unique circumstances. We'll go in the same order as the questions. What's your TV space? Do you have space for a 52" TV? Or are you limited by say, 32" of TV space. Gotta measure that and buy accordingly. What will your viewing position be? A plasma TV has a wider viewing angle and can be seen from around the room, whereas an lcd screen will change color depending on the angle you're viewing it from.

An lcd TV is better for gaming and can be just right for general watching, etc. But, a plasma TV gives the optimal viewing experience. The refresh rate and response times of plasma televisions make it the best option for viewing fast action sports scenes and are perfect for movie buffs. Also, an lcd TV is seen better in rooms with direct sunlight while a plasma is much clearer in dark rooms. A plasma weighs more than an lcd, so if you move often, this will be a disadvantage. And, finally the big word: BUDGET. What features and how big an HDTV can you afford?

That's where a refurbished HDTV enters the picture. A refurbished HDTV is not "used" or "secondhand". They are TVs that for one reason or another were returned and cannot be legally sold as new. So, a refurbished HDTV is inspected, fixed (if needed to), and tested to pass factory standards. They come with in-home manufacturers warranties.

If you buy a refurbished HDTV, you're buying excellent quality, name brand TVs for incredible savings. They look like new and no one needs to know it's a refurbished HDTV. Hey, the rich try to keep it as their secret, too.

One major thing to look out for when buying a refurbished HDTV is to buy it from a reputable dealer. The number one concern when looking for any refurbished product is if it's safe. Spending even a dime for a broken TV is like throwing money in the garbage. Find out exactly what to look out for here: http://www.squidoo.com/refurbished-hdtv.

You definitely can get a name brand, high quality TV at incredible savings! Thousands have already done so. Telling your friends and family that you bought a refurbished HDTV is your choice. They will never know if you don't tell them! It looks (and practically is) brand new. It comes with a manufacturer's 90 day warranty and yes, the warranty is in-home! Learn more about refurbished HDTVs and the most reliable place to get them. Put your fears about safety to rest once and for all.

Prison Break: Season 4 (DVD) newly tagged "tv"

Prison Break: Season 4
Prison Break: Season 4 (DVD)

This is a problem faced by all music lovers. To select the speakers which will do justice to the room you are going to place them into. Today, there are all types of speakers available to choose from. There are floor speakers, tower speakers, surround speakers, in-ceiling speakers, bookshelf speakers and outdoor speakers etc to choose from while deciding on the right pair. However, which is the correct speaker for your room would largely depend on the size and placement of other objects in your room.

To a novice, the general idea would be, the larger the room, the larger should be the speakers. However, with the advancement in technology, more and more is being offered in small packages. Therefore, it is not true that if you have a large room, you would also need to buy a larger pair of speakers.

However, there are a certain points which will help if considered while choosing speakers that are ideal for your room. The acoustics of your room play a very important role in the performance of the speakers. If you have room with upholstered furnishings and heavy drapes then it will be more sound absorbent. You would need speakers with higher amplifiers for such rooms. However rooms with hard finishes like metal, brick or glass etc reflect sound very well. You can look for speakers with other music qualities like a good treble and bass for such rooms.

Other than that, the type and design of the speakers also matters while selecting the right enhancement for your music system. Let us find out by the type of speakers that are available.

Floor Speakers: These Speakers are designed to stand on the floor and ideally need quite a bit of clearance space for good reflection of music. These speakers should be placed at least 6 to 15 ft apart and they should be at least 10 inches away from the walls. The rear of these speakers should not be blocked as they contain the acoustic component. This means they are suitable for a medium to large size room. Also, they are a very good design component and can add to the dcor of your room. They should thus be placed in a less cluttered, open space.

Direct/Reflecting speakers: these speakers need to be placed around 4 to 12 ft apart and 1 - 4 ft away from the side walls. They should also be placed approximately 2 ft away from any sound absorbent material. They can be ideal for an average sized room.

Bookshelf Speakers: These can be ideal for a small room as they are specifically designed for mounting on bookshelves, brackets and foot stands. They consume less of floor space and can be placed on existing furniture. The clearance spaces needed by them are also less than other speaker types.

Selecting the right kind of speakers that enhance your music system can be a tedious job. Specially if you are looking for a pair that gives a good sound quality according to your room it can get very difficult. However, keeping the above things in mind, you can get just the right pair for your room.

When you're ready to upgrade your television to something more modern, like a plasma screen or large rear projection flat panel, most of the time you research the cost of the TV itself. It turns out there's a lot of other costs involved that you'll want to budget for.

We recently purchased a 65" wide screen TV by Mitsubishi. It's a beautiful thing. Great screen, 1080p HDTV, it's even ready for 3D TV when it comes out. But compared to our previous wide screen TV which had it's own base, this one is lighter (only 75 lbs instead of 300 lbs) and has no base of it's own. It's too big to mount on the wall so it needs a stand to sit on. Hmmm. It was sitting on a nice glass stand at the Home Theater store, but guess what? That thing cost almost $800! Wow, that's a huge percentage of the TV's price and definitely makes the final cost a lot higher. Surely there are other options.

Yes, there are. In fact, nearly every TV in the store had a stand to go with it and you can mix and match them to your heart's content. Some are meant for smaller TVs because they're only 40" wide, so our 65" TV wouldn't fit. There were others that were large monstrous wood pieces with several storage drawers and doors, plenty of space to put movies, room accessories, speakers, whatever. But those ran almost $2000 each. I wanted cheaper, not more expensive.

We ended up getting a glass stand that had a shelf below for storing things, but don't use it for that. We already had built in storage so that wasn't an issue. The biggest issues were height and cost. Yes, height. We were used to having the TV a certain height off the floor and wanted to get a close as possible to what we had. Did you know that there is an optimum viewing height specific to each room based on your seat height? Get it wrong and your picture won't look perfect. The one we picked was about 6" shorter than before, but it's still within range of optimal viewing for our room.

Consumers are drawn to the hype behind flat screen HD TV models, but are they worth the expense? Sure they offer a unique style and great pictures and audio but do you really get what you pay for? As with any new product on the market that is in high demand the cost is going to be very overpriced until the hype wears of some. You will find flat screen HD TV models in CRT, plasma, projection, and flat panel LCD models.

The size of the flat screen HD TV picture area is quite impressive and a main selling point. They range in size form 20" to 60" so you can select the one that meets your viewing needs as well as fits in the space you have available for it. While a flat screen HD TV offers you plenty of viewing features you will have to come up with some hard cash to enjoy one. They range in price from $1,500 to $10,000. A very common model sold is the Sony KE-42M1 with a WEGA Engine System and a 60" flat screen. It retails for approximately $1,799.

If you find those prices to be just too much don't get discouraged. Forecasters predict the cost of a flat screen HD TV will drop by in the next couple of years due to new models being introduced and the market being saturated with various flat screen HD TV options. Even computer manufacturer giants Dell and Hewlett Packard are climbing on board. They plan to offer cheap flat screen HD TV models that still offer plenty of quality.

If you really want a flat screen HD TV right now then you might consider the affordable 26" Toshiba Theater Wide HD 26HL84 TV. This particular model offers the Toshiba flat panel and the Pixel Pure Digital Video system. It also has built in speakers and a tuner. There are plenty of other great flat screen HD TV models to choose from as well from a variety of manufacturers.

If you are looking to build your first home theater for your family and are looking to do so on a reasonable budget a 720p projector is a great way to go.

A few short years ago a 720p projector was the norm for home theaters. Able to provide a stunning high definition image on a screen measured in feet instead of inches was the choice for state of the art home theaters. Even today a 720p projector is more then capable of displaying standard definition DVDs and broadcast HDTV at an optimum resolution. Many will even argue that unless you are planning on sitting close to the screen (within 1.5 times the screen width) that you will have a hard time noticing a difference, especially on non 1080p material

With the recent arrival of 1080p projectors and blu-ray players that output images at 1080p, the 720p projector has lost some of its allure. While it is true that 1080p projectors are certain to be the standard for future projectors and it is no secret that most of the research and development and improved features are now being directed towards the 1080p projector market, there is still a market for a 720p projectors. In fact for those who have been considering a home HD projector, now is a great time to be in the market. The price of a 720p projector has plummeted to the point where you can easily have a high definition projector for your home theater for under $1000.

So what are some popular home HD projectors to consider?

1. BenQ W500 - The W500 is a popular low cost projector with a superb image sharpness. It lacks lens shift which makes it a bit more limited then some others, but is a worthwhile consideration for your home theater.

2. Mitsubishi HC1600 - The HC1600 high definition projector is a DLP projector which provides a bright image and the image provides a pleasing image contrast despite a lower on/off reported contrast ratio compared to it's competitors.

3. Panasonic PT-AX200U - This full featured 720p projector is probably the most popular and highly regarded "entry level" 720p projector on the market today. It provides a pixel free image structure for an excellent image. It is a very bright home HD projector compared to the competition and adds a strong zoom and lens shift which gives it an advantage in terms of placement flexibility. Although costing a few more dollars then those in its class it is an excellent buy and a welcome addition to HDTV viewers, movie viewers and gamers alike.

Now is a great time to experience home theater in its true glory, with life size images that are capable of immersing you in the action. Once you experience high definition on your own home HD projector you will never go back.
